This blog will be on hold until tomorrow night.

The new episode has left us with tears streaming down our collective faces, and we shall be rewatching and ripping our hearts out once again tomorrow.  This time, however, with cookies and good friends.  We promise to post happy fics tomorrow to help ease the pain.

A Miracle of Rare Device

A Miracle of Rare Device

Author: anonymous

Rating: Mature

Pairing: Sherlock/John

Summary: Fill for Sherlock BBC Kink Meme prompt:

John and Sherlock have never ever thought about each other as anything more than friends. Sure, people speculate, but neither of them is looking for any kind of relationship.

It is therefore quite the surprise when John sees Sherlock doing something he’s seen Sherlock do a thousand times before – drying his hands, drinking milk, anything commonplace—and all he can do is go over and give his roommate the most tender and loving kiss. Sherlock, who is just as surprised at his own reaction as John’s action, reciprocates. Somehow they end up having slow passionate I-love-you sex in John’s bed, though neither of them can exactly figure out how things progressed to this point.

Anything that happens after that I leave to you good author. I just want them completely blindsided by the fact that they’re madly in love. :D

Our Opinion: This is the cutest fluff we have ever read.  No cuter fluff exists.  It really is like a revelation when John realizes, ‘I’m so in love with him’.  Sweet and sexy.  If you haven’t read it, you have been missing out.

Out of my Head [WIP]

Out of my Head

Author: moonblossom

Rating: Mature

Pairing: Sherlock/John

Summary: Somewhat AU, in which Sherlock has an uncanny ability and John is unsurprisingly accepting. More of a series of related vignettes in one ‘verse than a long plot-based fic, but should probably be read sequentially at this point. Chapter 3 contains explicit slash content, the subsequent chapters refer to it but are not explicit.

Our Opinion: Lovely, engaging, believable.  Sherlock can hear people’s thoughts and how his relationship with John is both affected by and affects his abilities.  It isn’t that much of an AU, the characters and universe are still ultimately the same.  Also, it is a WIP, but it updates, don’t worry!  Give it a shot, we hope you like it as much as we do!

We would like to add how much we love this fic.  It’s emotionally engaging, long, and powerful.  Also, quite cute at times.

No Mushrooms Please

No Mushrooms Please

Pairing: Sherlock/John friendship

Summary: Bromance in the true, somewhere-weird-between-friendship-and-romance version of the term.

We’d just like to say that this really is one of the cutest gen fics out there.  It’s adorable.  Domestic!fic perfection.

It Feels like Home when I’m With You

It Feels like Home when I’m With You

Author: etothepii

Rating: PG-13

Pairing: Sherlock/John

Summary: John still gets nightmares about Afghanistan. That’s the worst part of it all, he thinks — he still has dreams about sand and drowning to death in his own blood. But they’re more memory than nightmare.

Note: This is is an AU ghost!John fic.  Don’t worry, we’re not spoiling it, it quickly becomes clear at the start of the story.

Q
Hi! I just came across this blog yesterday and I have to say I am already loving it! I was looking for a blog like this ^^ I was wondering if you have any fics where John and Sherlock have to stay in a hotel for a case but can only manage to get one room and then romance follows. Thanks!

Someone Else’s Heart by thisprettywren

This is an explicit fic that meets the criteria of your request pretty well.  Sherlock and John get caught in the rain during a case, have to get a single room (they are, apparently, on Scotland Yard’s payroll for this venture), and as John is dressing Sherlock’s minor injury, things take a turn for the romantic.  It’s quite good, I hope it’s what you’re looking for!

This one is just blatant hotel sex.  I couldn’t find any other fics that fit your criteria, so this is just Sherlock and John, in a hotel, having sex.  Oh, and Sherlock forgot condoms.  OOPS.  Whatever shall they do?

Performance In a Leading Role

Performance In a Leading Role

Author: Mad_Lori

Rating: Mature

Pairing: Sherlock/John

Summary: Sherlock Holmes is an Oscar winner in the midst of a career slump. John Watson is an Everyman actor trapped in the rom-com ghetto. When they are cast as a gay couple in a new independent drama, will they surprise each other? Will their on-screen romance make its way into the real world?

Our Opinion: AU fic doesn’t generally make it onto our list, but this one is spectacular.  Sherlock, especially, is dead on.  The attention to detail is remarkable, and really makes the story believable.  Also, the movie they’re supposed to be working on?  We would watch it.  Plenty of sex, emotional conversations that are helped rather than hindered by Sherlock’s… unique personality, and the harsh realities presented don’t deter the big finish.  A must read if you enjoy AU, a splendid change of pace if you usually don’t.

Red Rover, Red Rover

Red Rover, Red Rover

Author: sothistime

Rating: Mature

Pairing: Sherlock/John, Sherlock/Irene Adler

Summary: Irene watches Sherlock from across the fire. She knows how she’d like to break him, and she knows how he will break himself against John.

Our Opinion: A lovely fic from Irene’s POV.  Short, but cutting.  Delightfully in character, and almost sinister in the way she observes the boys.  Don’t be afraid of short fic, it often harbors the most exquisite surprises.

Intellectual Intercourse

Intellectual Intercourse

Author: waketosleep

Rating: T (for most parts)

Pairing: Sherlock/John (slight Sherlock/Irene Adler in the last part)

Summary: The drawn-out and ridiculous story of how Sherlock Holmes and John Watson carried out a surprisingly successful asexual relationship.

Our Opinion: Home to the famed “Declarations of Mutual Devotion” and “A Marriage of Inconvenience”, this series is adorable and even thought provoking when it comes to analyzing how we view relationships.  It is mostly gen, but very sweet.  The last part feels a little disjointed from the rest, but is still worth a read.  In fact, read all of it.  We guarantee you’ll catch a case of the warm fuzzies.
